to-Jazz
This book is designed for students of composition, particularly those with a classical background wanting to explore the jazz genre. It is also targeted at vocal students, providing original music for vocalists and pianists, giving a basic overview of the principles of harmony to assist in performance and composition.
It must be understood that there are no stringent rules for writing melodies and chord progressions, generally you rely on your own judgement. To be accomplished though, you must have a knowledge
of the basics. The material and principles presented are meant to serve as guides rather than rules. Chord symbols are provided on every piece to encourage individuality and improvisation. Remember, acceptance or rejection of an idea should derive from one's answer to the question, HOW DOES IT SOUND?
Transposition into different keys and arranging music to suit the vocalist is available by emailing
the composer Graham Muller.
